The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The journey ends
Ok this was a request review from my good friend Eric, so here it is: a review of The Return of the King. This is the final chapter in the enthralling Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This movie starts off where the last one ends almost to the exact point. We start with some back story on Smeagol and than are once again put in the world of Middle Earth and the journey Frodo must take. We do this for a while and than switch to the trio of Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. We see them as they are preparing for the siege of Gondor and we also see Merry and Pippin in the ruins of what was once Isengard. Merry and Pippin than meet up with Gandalf and the Fellowship starts to form again. Than we start to see in the Frodo story that his character is starting to deteriorate and the burden of the ring is becoming much. Sam tries to help Frodo with his burden but Frodo refuses his help because his mind is being poisoned with lies from Gollum. This movie is reeeaaaaallllly long so I'm not going to go into much more detail about everything and just tell you about the good parts. We do see the Battle of Gondor and let me say this: WOW! It is intense and it takes up almost half of the movie; which is a hard feat. If you thought the siege of Helms Deep was big than you will see how minute it was in the grand scale of Middle Earth. One-Hundred Thousand orcs, on screen, at the same time, it's insane! I however felt that the arrival at Mount Doom (the place they were taking the ring to) was a little rushed and not as dramatic as it should have been. We spent three years questing for this place and when we get there it's not that big a deal in the filmmakers eyes. It is sad to see it end though, as it will not seem like Christmas without a Lord of The Rings movie opening up. There is talks however of them making The Hobbit into a big screen film, guess we'll have to wait and see. After the movie though I felt like something was missing or something wasnt complete. It might have been that it was over and there wasn't another one next year or maybe the movie was lacking something but either way it's still a good movie to see this holiday week. Take a date, enjoy a good movie, and then go home to your family and enjoy the holidays. This is a solid movie overall and a fitting end to a extraordinary trilogy and landmark in movie making. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Fifth Season on DVD
Uh, yeah, when did Buffy get a sister?

Ok, no small talk this time around we’re going to go straight into the review. Ok Buffy Season Five was one of the best seasons ever next to extraordinary season three. This season starts off with the funny episode of Buffy Vs Dracula that many fan boys had wanted for years. However at the end of the episode we see a mysterious girl and than she is introduced as BUFFY’S SISTER!!! Ok, when did this happen, for four seasons Buffy if I recall correctly had been an only child and now she has a sister? Don’t fret little ones as we find out in the next episode that she is Dawn, Buffy‘s sister since forever. However we find out what she really is in episode five. This season had one of the best villains to this day in the form of Glory. Glory was an uber strong woman and a….. I’m not going to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it. We also get good stand alone episodes like he one where we get to see how Spike killed two slayers. This season had everything in it, from humor to horror and most of all emotion. I can’t stress how much we see how much we see Buffy love her sister. Loves her so much that she has to do something unthinkable to save her. Probably given too much away all ready so I’m gonna quit while I’m ahead and end the review of the episodes here. Now on to the features, this season had the best special features of all and the best commentary. The features include the now standard Season Overview and featurettes. There is a really good one on Dawn and Demonology guide by Danny Strong (he plays Jonathon for all you non Buffy heads). All in all this season gets a tie with season three for my favorite season and it was also the first season that I ever saw, awww the memories. This is perfect for any Buffy fan and a great gift to give this Christmas!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Special Extended Edition DVD
The One Ring like never before

Well after a couple week hiatus, I have again Returned. I know your all disappointed that I came back but hey I’m here to stay. Enough with the small talk lets get to the good stuff, the review. OK on the chopping block this week we have the Two Towers Special Extended Edition DVD. I’m sure most of you have already seen the theatrical version of the film and feel pretty secure in what you saw. Once you watch this you will realize how much you missed with the original version. This version extends the movie by about forty-five minutes, making the final movie just under four hours. All of the extended or new scenes add so much magic to this already wonderful movie that you feel like your watching it again for the first time. The guide that comes with the set is also very informative in telling you which scenes are extended or new. This way you can identify new footage quick and easy and keep up with the movie. However the running time can feel like forever sometimes during some of the talking but flies by during the siege of Helm’s Deep. This movie is by no means a chore to watch though. Now, let’s move on to the special features and let me tell you there are a crap load of them. Two discs of special features each with it’s own documentaries and photo galleries and such. Also on the main discs you get FOUR separate audio commentaries. You can watch the movie four times with a different audio commentary from one with the director to another with the cast. For those keeping track that’s about sixteen hours of special features right there. I must say that my favorite special feature had to be the documentary on Gollumn because some say I bear a resemblance to him. With all that said the best thing about this scrumptious set is the measly price of only $29.99. In my opinion ask Santa to stuff your stocking with this little jewel.
